To support early childhood math, Marzano Research partnered with the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation. This partnership is meant to aid in the development of a strategic approach to early childhood math.

Purpose

NDE identified a need to support unfinished teaching and learning in early childhood mathematics because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted stakeholder engagement and collected artifacts to inform the development of a landscape analysis that documents efforts in Nebraska to support early childhood education and identified potential areas of need.

We included actionable recommendations grounded in stakeholder engagement and evidence-based practices in the landscape analysis. We also included a strategic engagement and implementation strategy to support Nebraska schools and educational entities in planning for early mathematics learning acceleration.

Marzano Research engaged in the following key activities to support the goals of this partnership.

  1. Facilitate Stakeholder Engagement
  2. Conduct Environmental Scan
  3. Develop Landscape Report
  4. Coordinate with NDE and Nebraska Children and Families Foundation Steering Committee

We can’t wait to see the impact of this work in the Nebraska early childhood math landscape.
