Lidia Herrera-Rocha, Ph.D.

Researcher

Hello! My name is Lidia, and I am a researcher at Marzano Research. I’ve been in education for over 15 years. I have worked in public education as an elementary teacher in bilingual classrooms. In higher education, I have been a research and teacher assistant, a Professor of Instruction in bilingual education and Site Coordinator for the teacher preparation residency program, and a research lead for teacher preparation projects. My research has centered around topics that include Latinx engineering students’ persistence in and beyond the degree, bilingualism and bilingual education, dual language programs and STEM education, language ideologies and identity, translanguaging, and teachers’ perceptions of their level of preparedness. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Arts in Bilingual Education, and a Doctorate in Teaching, Learning, and Culture with a focus in Literacy/Biliteracy.

I am from the El Paso, Texas/Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua border region. I have lived here my entire life and really enjoy our sunny days, cultural richness, and unique languaging practices. I live with my husband and 5 daughters (2 of which are furry).
