Ceri B. Dean, PhD, has worked with Marzano Research as a consultant since 2017, providing technical assistance to state education agencies in the areas of teacher evaluation, micro-credential system development, Native American needs assessments, and school improvement.
Ceri has more than 30 years of experience developing and providing training, coaching, and technical assistance to educators at the state, district, and school levels. Prior to establishing Dean Education Consulting in 2016, she served as Senior Fellow and Vice President of Field Services at McREL, participating in McREL’s overall management and strategy development and overseeing the development and delivery of McREL’s training, technical assistance, and consulting services. She served as the director of REL Pacific, the North Central Comprehensive Center, and the Eisenhower High Plains Consortium for Mathematics and Science during her time at McREL. She is the co-author of Classroom Instruction that Works, 2nd Edition, Success in Sight and A Toolkit of Resources for Engaging Families and the Community as Partners in Education, Parts 1-4. Ceri has developed and presented over 300 workshops on a variety of topics, including standards, mathematics teaching, assessment, instructional strategies, leadership, professional development planning and evaluation, teacher and leader evaluation, and system improvement. Currently, she is serving as a Co-Principal Investigator on an Institute of Education Sciences grant, developing professional development materials for culturally responsive teaching.
Ceri holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, a master’s degree in atmospheric science, and a bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science and math education. She is a member of Learning Forward, ASCD, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and is on the Board of Directors for Colorado ASCD.
